Always willing to go the extra mile to make your event memorable, Chef Meeko is ready to "bless" your event with her down home southern meals. 

Hailing from Phenix City, Alabama, Chef Meeko began her food service career in 2001. Inspired by the cooking of the women in her family, Meeko has always loved cooking. She began cooking at fast food restaurants and later worked her way into fine dining as a sous chef. Although her passion has always been cooking, she ventured into the social justice field to be a mentor and inspiration to those impacted by the justice system. However, she wanted to do it from the inside and therefore, became a corrections officer. In her role, she was able to be a different kind of corrections officer, one that was respectful, compassionate and encouraging to those she supervised. She often mentored the men on kitchen duty to never give up on their dreams of becoming chefs and it was there that she herself became inspired to follow her own words of inspiration and start her own business. After catering many family and community functions as favors to friends and associates and being encouraged by many of those who experienced her cooking to start her own catering business, she took the leap of faith and started Down Home Southern Catering, LLC. 

Her food pays homage to those who taught her how to cook (her Aunt Ann and her grandmother Mamie) and although she enjoys cooking all kinds of cuisine, she specializes in down home southern cooking that not only feeds your soul but may occasionally make you tap your feet and hum and leave you wanting more!
